"YOU ARE MY SONG" - how to make the paper ribbon

" YOU ARE MY SONG " was a mini book WS at Scrap-delight a while ago. I have finailly found time to post it. This is the 1st post of this mini book. The next will be the inside.......a lot of pages....so it will be a long post. The paper used-GLITZ:Laced With Grace...and lots of GLITZ stamps.....and lots of GLIMMERMIST! Get ready to have some fun!

Close up of the ribbon, and a few flowers we made for the front of the book.

A resin bird from PRIMA, sitting on a spray of flowers. The bird was painted with GLIMMERMIST

NOW ,THE HOW TO MAKE THE RIBBON.

Cut the paper strips to 3cm x 30cm Depending on how long you want to make this, is to how many you need to cut. Once pleated, you can see how many more you need if it is not long enough.
First distress both sides with a distressing tool. Careful it does not rip. If it does tape it back together ( on the wrong side)......as it is distressed and it is supposed to look like that...isn't it?????
Life happens.

After pleating poke holes in the paper as shown. Don't be too fussy.

Two photo's of the stitching. I use a gold thread from RAYHAR. It looks like a metal thread but it is not. Don't use a metal thread if you do not want a  headache. It tears and knots.Gold colored embroidery thread is just as good. Use at least three strands or it will be too thin and not look as good.
Have fun doing this...and remember take your time and it will all come right in the end.
Look for the next post as the inside of the book will be shown.
Till then have a scrappen time.
